Answer :-

Proteins :-

Proteins can be defined as one among the most important Macro-molecules in the bodies of living organisms.

  • After water, proteins form the major (14%) part of the living Protoplasm.

  • About 75% of the dry weight of Protoplasm is that's proteins.

  • Proteins are very complex organic molecules containing Carbon , Hydrogen, Oxygen and Nitrogen as their major constituents.

  • Proteins contain Sulphur, Phosphorus, Iodine and Iron as their minor constituents.

Extra Information :-

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • The term "Protien" was coined by a scientist named- "Berzelius" in the year 1837.
  • In the year 1902, it was discovered that on undergoing complete Hydrolysis, complex protien molecules break down into simple amino acids.
Lipids :-
In general terms, Lipids can be defined as the esters of fatty acids with Glycerol.
  • Each molecule of glycerol can react with three molecules of fatty acids.
  • According to the number of fatty acids that are attached to the Triglyceride molecule, the esters are named as Monoglycerides, Diglycerides or Triglycerides.
Extra Information :-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • Lipids are commonly known as Fats.

  • Fats that are liquids at room temperature, are termed as "Oils".

  • Unsaturated fatty acids have one or more double bonds between the Carbon (C) atoms of the chain ( Eg - Oleic acid).

  • Essential fatty acids are also known as "Poly-unsaturated fatty acids" (Eg - Linoleic acid and Arachidonic acids).
