The rate of reaction is the speed at which the reactants are converted into products. for ex. oxidiative rusting of iron under earth's atmosphere is slow reaction that can take many years, but combustion of cellulose in fire takes place in fraction of a second.for most reaction, the rate decreases as the reaction proceeds.
