The phenomenon of bending of light rays when it enters from rarer to denser medium is called Refraction.

There are two laws of refraction

1) The redacted rays incident rays and the normal all lie on the same plane.

2)The ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is constant.

\sf{Refraction\:of\:light\:is\:the\:phenomenon\:of\: change\:in}

\sf{from \:one \:medium\: to \:another}

Two laws of refraction :-

  • The incident ray , refracted ray and the normal to the interface of two transparent media at the point of incidence, all line the same plane.

  • The ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the Sine of angle of refraction is a constant for the light of a given colour and for the given pair of media. This is also called Snell's law of reflection.

\boxed{\sf{sin I / sin R= constant}}
