Filtration is a method for separating an insoluble solid from a liquid. When a mixture of sand and water is filtered: the sand stays behind in the filter paper (it becomes the residue ) the water passes through the filter paper (it becomes the filtrate )

answer....

residue-Residue is anything that's left over when a substance has been removed, like the grease left over on a frying pan.

filtration-Filtration is a process used to separate solids from liquids or gases using a filter medium that allows the fluid to pass through but not the solid.
