- When the direction of acceleration is opposite to the direction of Velocity , then it called retardation or deacceleration .
- If dirⁿ of Velocity is taken positive , then dirⁿ of acceleration will be negative.
- For ex - We will se here two examples-
- When brakes are applied to the car , then its speed decreases and finally it comes to rest .
- When a ball is thrown vertically upwards , its speed gradually decreases and at a height its velocity becomes zero.
- There are three equⁿs of motion which are
- v = u + at .
- s = ut + ½at².
- 2as = v² - u².
- We can calculate distance travelled in nth second by using the formula ,
- =u + ½a(2n - 1) .
- When a body is projected vertically upwards from ground at a speed v ,and another object is dropped from a tower of height h , then they will meet after time = h / v .
