Calcination : Carbonate ore when heated strongly in the absence of air is converted into metal oxide.
ZnCO3 heat----> ZnO + CO2

Calcination is the process in which a substance is heated to a high temperature when air is absent. This process is done to ores as well. This process is done to remove volatile impurities from ores. Some ores on which calcination is done: Calcium Carbonate() and Zinc Carbonate()
