Answer: Simple tissue is a tissue that is made up of one type of cells that are structurally and functionally similar. Parenchyma, Collenchyma and Sclerenchyma are the types of simple tissue.

Parenchyma cells are living and more or less similar in diameter. The cells may be spherical, oval or polygonal in shape and thin walled with intracellular space. Most abundant tissue found. Stores food materials and Also provide support to the plant. Some of them contain chrolophyll(Chlorenchyma),some have star shaped air spaces (Aerenchyma).

Collenchyma cells are living to but elongated with thickened corners. No intercellular spaces between cells.Provides tensile strength to leaves and and stems of dicot plants. Sclerenchyma cells are dead with extremely thick walls throughout .Intracellular space is absent. Provides mechanical strength to the plant .
