These muscles are also called as visceral muscles.

Special Points:-

=>They have uni-nucleated and spindle shaped muscles cells.

=>These are not under the control of our will and are called as involuntary muscles.

=>Performs actions such as digestion, fertilisation etc that are not under our will

In general terms, "Smooth muscles" can simply be defined as the muscles which are non-striated in nature.
