Soil is an inseparable part of our life and it is an important natural resource because of the following reasons :-

(A) It helps in the growth of plants by holding the roots firmly in it.

(B) It supplies mineral nutrients to the plant body for development plant cells, tissues, etc.

(C) It enables the roots of plants to absorb water.

(D) It is the home to many small micro-organisms.

(E) Soil (more clearly, fertile soil) plays an important role in the field of agriculture. Various types of soil are responsible for the growth of various kinds of crops.
