<b > Speciation is the origin of new species from the existing ones. It is the process of evolution of new species from the pre existing ones occurring due to accumulation of variation. The processes like genetic drift or geographical barriers like mountains, rivers, etc lead to incapability to reproduce amongst themselves in the population, giving rise to new species.
