Speed is the total distance covered per total time taken. Denoted by s
speed=total distance covered/total time taken
lets take a car travels 5 km distance in 3 hrs then
speed is 5/3 km/hr
It is a scalar quantity i.e. it doesn't depends on direction it depends only on magnitude.

Speed is the Total distance covered by the object in per unit time. its SI unit is m/s.
It is a scalar quantity.
Example:-
An object covers a distance of 1 m in 1 sec. So, the speed of the object will be 1 m/s.
Speed = Distance/ time
