Sustainable development ,is the organizing principle for meeting human development ,goals while at the same time sustaining the ability of natural systems to provide the natural resources and ecosystem services upon which the economy, and society depend. The desired result is a state of society where living conditions and resource use continue to meet human needs without undermining ,the integrity and stability of the natural system. Sustainable, development can be classified as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations.

Sustainable development means the development that fulfils the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

In other words Sustainable development is a pattern of resources use that aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present but also for generation to come.

Characteristics of Sustainable Development:

1. It attempt to minimize green house gases, reduce global warming and preserve environmental resources.

2. It emphasises on green architecture and eco-friendly building practises.
