Definition of Tense

- According to the grammatical sources tense is defined as a category which expresses the time of the speech corresponding to moment of the speech.

There are three parts of tense which are past tense , present tense and future tense.

• Past tense

: It signifies the incident or words which happened in past or took place in past.

: There are four types of past tense ,i.e, past simple, past continuous , past perfect and past perfect continuous.

- Example

: I had gone to school yesterday.

: I attended a meeting yesterday.

• Present tense

: It relates to the matter which exists in the present moment.

: There are four types of present tense ,i.e, simple present , present continuous , present perfect and the present perfect continuous.

- Example

: I'm in a meeting right now.

: I'm going to college at the moment.

• Future tense

: It relates to the matter with the reference to future aspects of life.

: There are four types of present tense ,i.e, simple future , future continuous , future perfect and the future perfect continuous.

: I will go to school tomorrow.

: I've got my exams starting from next week.
