A computer has two categories :
- Hardware: computer's processor, memory, storage, communication ports and peripheral devices
- Software: Includes operating system (OS) and software applications
Now we will talk about different types of computer:
- supercomputers: they are very fast and best computers still now
- mainframe computers: these are also good computers which can support upto thousand users
- minicomputers: these are small machines and are good
- microcomputers: these are widely used and fastest growing computers
In a computer there are three types of os, they are:
- microsoft windows
- mac
- linux
In a computer there are many parts ,they are:
- monitor (output devices)
- cpu (input and output device)
- keyboard (input device)
- mouse (input device)
- speakers (output device)
- printers (output device)
Functions of all parts in a computer:
- CPU- it is known as the central processing unit. it is the head and heart of the computer.
- monitor- it is an output device where the user can read all the output.
- mouse- it is an input device used to point the cursor onto a particular thing
- keyboard- it is an input device with which we can type all the alphabets and numerals.

Computer also has many units, they are:
- Arithmetic unit:Arithmetic logic unit is the unit which performs arithmetic operations in the computer. They do operations for floating point values and fixed point values. They have access to the processor and ram which are important components of the computer. The output from the ALU depends on our inputs.
- Control unit:The control unit is the one which says what operation to do to the processor. It also supervises other units and everything about what to do in computer. It is embedded in the CPU and it is very useful.
- Memory unit:All the memory units such as RAM,ROM,drives are all stored int the memory unit. All the storage of files, images and videos are stored in a chip. RAM is known as the primary memory and the functioning also depends on RAM.
