there are mainly three types of drives in a computer,

1)harddrive-this drive is readable and writeable. It is a mechanical based drive has high writing and reading speeds.

2) solid-state drive-This is a better and high performance hardrive that uses flash system to store and write data...

2)optical drive-this drive is used for reading and writing compact disks (CDs)..
