* a ravine formed by the action of water is known as gullies
* sheet erosion is the uniform removal of soil in thin layers by the forces of raindrops and overland flow
* ploughing along the contours of land in order to minimise soil erosion is known as contour ploughing

a) Gullies : A gully is arelatively deep vertical walled channel , recently formed within a valley where no wall - defined channel previously existed .

b) Countour ploughing : This is the farming practice of ploughing across the slope of hills following its elevation countour lines .

c) Sheet erosion : Water flowing down over a large area causes the top soil to be wased away .This is called sheet erosion .
