PLASTER OF PARIS IS A SOFT MIXTURE OF SAND AND CEMENT SOMETIMES LIME WITH WATER FOR SPREADING ON WALLS CEILING OR OTHER STRUCTURES TO FORM A SMOOTH AND HARD SURFACE WHEN DRIED.

●PLASTER OF PARIS..... ( POP)
Plaster of Paris is calcium sulphate hemihydrate and it's formula is CaSO4. 1/2 H2O or 2CaSO4. H2O.
On heating gypsum at 100° In a kiln ,Plaster of Paris is obtained.
If the temperature of the reaction vessel is increased above 100° C ( 373 K) , anhydrous calcium sulphate Will be obtained in place of POP.
●PROPERTIES.....
• It is a white powder.
• It has a remarkable property of setting into a hard mass when mixed with water and form gypsum (rehydration )
●USES......
• It is used for making casts in dentistry.
• It is used for producing Mould's of toys, pottery etc.
