In solids, the molecules are very closely packed. The intermolecular space in solid is negligible.There is a strong intermolecular force of attraction. This holds the molecules together in fixed positions.Therefore the molecules cannot move from one position to another.They only vibrate about their fixed position. Hence, in solids the molecules are arranged in a definite manner.

Eg - Sugar, wood, rock, plastic,silver,gold,

iron, aluminum.
