Geometrical Isomerism -

The isomer which have same structural formula but different spatial arrangements of atom or group across the C-C bond are known as geometrical isomer and the phenomenon is known as geometrical isomerism.

It is of two types -
1. Cis isomer
2. Trans isomer

Optical Isomerism -

The organic compounds which rotates the plane polarised light in clockwise or anticlockwise directions are known as optical isomer and the phenomenon is known as optical isomerism.

The isomer which rotates the plane polarised light in clockwise direction are known as dextro rotatory and those in anticlockwise directions are known as livo rotatory.
