(Electrical engineering: Circuits,Electrical power) Current rating is the maximum current that a fuse will carry for an indefinite period without too much deterioration of the fuseelement.

The current rating of an electric fuse means that if the current exceeds the given level of current then the fuse will melt. It specifies the melting point of the fuse.

Example: If the current rating of fuse is 5 A and if the current level flowing through the circuit is more than 5 A then the fuse will melt. If it is below 5 A the circuit will continue to flow.

Only two types of current rating is there for appliances. One is 5 A and the other one is 15 A

 5 A Fuse is used for smaller appliances like Tube light, Fan, etc.
15 A Fuse is used for larger appliances like Heater, Refrigerator, etc.
