Dedifferentiation:
- Dedifferentiation is process by which a fully differentiated and supreme functional cell changes into a cell which is not that developed, and often behave like a stem cell.
- Examples are – The parenchyma cells that are present in plants can dedifferentiate into a less differentiated meristematic tissue when there is some injury to the plant.
- The fully developed and functional epithelial cell of an animal can change into some tumor progenitor cell or tumor stem cell when stimulated by some mutagen.
