The land gifted to the temples are known as the devadana. In other words, the gift of land to Gods is known as Devadana. In particular, the benefit of revenue from land or a village to the temple. During the rule of Chola dynasty in India, temples played an important role as a social institute. Therefore, two types of land grants were prevalent during this period known as the Brahmadeya and the Devadana. In Devadan, sometomes temples were gfited with entire village.
