Eutrophication is a change in an aquatic system when excess of nutrition (artificial or natural) is accumulated causing algal blooms on the surface of water bodies and which increases BOD ( biological oxygen demand ) causing death to those underwater organisms.

the excessive richness of nutrients in water that causes dense growth of algae on the surface and causes death of other organisms living in the water is called eutrophication.
