Magnification refers to the ratio of the height of the image to the height of the object.

In case of spherical mirror,

m= -v/u

or,+3 = -v/-20

or, v = + 60

Hence, image distance = 60 cm,

"Magnification is defined as the ratio between image height and the object height. Magnification is otherwise called as zooming. The process of making an object bigger in size to improve the visibility is known as magnification.

In case of spherical mirror,

m=-\frac{v}{u}

+3=-\frac{v}{-20}

\Rightarrow v=+60

Hence, image distance = 60 cm

So, the image looks closer than before because it is magnified."
