Mole fraction is the ratio of moles of a particular component to the total number of moles of a solution.

If a substance ‘A’ dissolves in substance 'B' and their number of moles are n^A and n^B respectively; then the mole fractions of A and B are given as:

●Mole fraction of A (X^a)

=(no. of moles of A )÷(No. of moles of solution)

=n^A÷ ( n^A + n^B)

● Mole fraction of B (X^b)

=(No. of moles of B )÷(no. of moles of A + no. of moles of B)

=n^B÷(n^A+n^B)

Remember,

X^a + X^b=1.

Hope this helps.

Answer:-

Mole fraction is denoted by X

Defination:-

One of the unit of Concentration is mole fraction,and mole fraction is equal to the number of moles of a component divided by the total number of moles of a solution.

Mole fraction of solute

a) Mole fraction of solute is define by number of moles of solute divided by the total numbers of moles of solution.

=> X (solute)

=(moles of solute)/(total moles of solution)

Mole fraction of solvent

b) Mole fraction of solvent is define by number of moles of solvent divided by the total numbers of moles of solution.

=> X (solvent)

=(moles of solvent)/(total moles of solution)

i hope it helps you.
