A mole is a term used to quantify 6.023×10^23 objects just like a dozen quantifies 12 objects.

1mol=6.023×10^23

It's significance is for counting very small things that can't be counted discreet like atoms and molecules, for instance we have 1 mol of C12 isotope in 12grams of C12
