The northern plain has been firmed by the interplay of the three major systems - the Indus the ganga and the brahmaputra along with their tributaries . This plain is formed of alluvial soil . It is located in southern part of Himalayan range and the Northern part of peninsular plateau . The area of Northern plain is 768000 sq. Km . The height of Northern plain is 2400 Km the width of Northern plain is 320 Km .
The Northern Plain is divided into 4 regions:
Bhabar , Terai , Bhangar and Khadar .
