The power of accommodation is the ability of the eye lens to adjust its focal length so we can see objects clearly. The change in the curvature of eye lens can thus change focal length and this enables to focus the image always at the retina.

Power is inversely proportional to focal length.

To see nearby objects clearly, focal length of eye lens is decreased by expanding ciliary muscles connected to the periphery of lens as the rays from nearby objects needs larger deviation to obtain a clear image at retins.
