Tissues are the group of similar cells specialized to perform a common function.

Tissues are of two types:

• Plant tissues

• Animal tissues

________________________________

PLANT TISSUES :

* Meristematic tissues:

Cells are capable of cell division repeatedly

Types of Meristematic tissues;

=> Apical meristem

• Present at growing tips of stems and roots.

=> Lateral meristem

• Present at lateral sides of root and stems.

=> Intercalary meristem

• Present at the base of the leaves or internodes on twigs.

* Permanent tissues

These are Meristematic tissues which on maturity lose ability to divide and differentiate into specialized tissues.

Types of permanent tissues;

=> Simple permanent tissues

• Made up of only one type.of tissue.

It's type;

*Parenchyma

*Aerenchyma.

*Collenchyma

*Sclerenchyma

=> Complex permanent tissues

• Made up of more than one type of tissues.

It's type;

• PHLOEM

types of cells;

Sieve tubes

companion cells

phloem fibres

Phloem parenchyma.

• XYLEM

Types of cells

Tracheids

Vessels

Xylem parenchyma

Xylem fibres

ANIMAL TISSUES

•EPITHELIAL TISSUES

Protective tissues covering the entire animal body internally and externally.

Types;

Squamous

Ciliated

Cuboidal

Glandular

Columnar

•MUSCULAR TISSUES

Elongated cells called muscular fibres made up. of contractile protein.

Types;

Striated

Smooth

Cardiac

•CONNECTIVE TISSUES

*Connects or binds different tissue or *organ.

Types;

*Areolar

*Dense Regular Connective Tissue

Connective Tissues;

=Tendon and ligaments

*Adipose

*Skeletal

=Cartilage and bone

*Fluid ( Help in transportation of materials and provide defence.)

*Blood; ( fluid, slightly alkaline)

:Blood cells

= RBC

=WBC

= Blood platelets

:Plasma.

*Lymph (Straw coloured fluid containing inorganic salts and organic compounds )

•NERVOUS TISSUES

made up of nerve cells or neurons.

I Hope it's clear ..
