Depletion region --- When p and n type semiconductor is combined to each other holes from p type and electron from n type neutral each other and form non charged portion called depletion region.

Potential barrier ---- potential difference developed between p region and nregion which further prevent the fusion of electron and holes called barrier potential.

--- in this potential +ve terminal is towards p type which repel holes and -ve terminal towards n type which repel electron.
