'Nutrition'

Nutrition is the science that interprets the interaction of nutrients and other substances in food in relation to maintenance, growth, reproduction, health and disease of an organism. It includes food intake, absorption, assimilation, biosynthesis, catabolism, and excretion.


Nutrients

The intake and utilisation of nutrients is known as nutrition.


Saprophytic nutrition.

In this mode of nutrition organism derive their nutrients from dead and decaying organic matter .

eg: Fungi like bread moulds,yeasts and mushrooms .


Holozoic nutrition :

In this mode of nutrition, an organism takes complex organic food material into its body by the process of ingestion.

Example: amoeba ,human beings etc
