Meristematic tissues are plant tissues which are responsible for growth in plants. These can divide and form new cells in plants.

These tissues are of 3 types :-

1. Apical Meristem- Present at the growing tip of stem and roots for increasing the length.

2. Lateral Meristem- Present beneath the bark and is responsible for growth in width of the trunk.

3. Intercalary Meristem- Present at the base of the leaves and increases the length between the nodes.
