The theory of plate tectonics states that plates can move in three different ways— convergent, divergent and transform boundaries.
These plate movements have resulted in the formation of the lofty Himalayas.
When the Gondwana land split due to conventional current, the indo-australian plate collided with the Eurasian plate. This led to the folding of the sediments accumulated in the geosyncline called tethys. This folding of sediments led to the formation of the Himalaya.
