liquids is a state of matter. in liquids the molecules are present in a little far away manner so when they are heated the molecules try to move from their places and their vibrate so what happens that the molecules try to escape from the container they vibrate more and more vigorously and they fly away from the container and this process is known as a thermal expansion in liquids
