Thrust is a force that acts perpendicular to the surface area. Pressure depends on thrust and contact surface area. When the person is standing, the surface area is less resulting in more pressure. When the person is lying the surface area is more resulting in less pressure.

-the force which is perpendicular to an object is thrust.-pressure depends on force and area if any of these increase pressure increases.
-As you walk across the sand all your weight shifts to one foot which is a smaller surface area than standing on two feet or lying on the floor.
