It is movement of water through a plant. It takes place in the form of evaporation. Hence, loss of water from plants.

Its two functions are as follows -

☆ It cools the environment.
☆ Transpiration also produces a pulling force that causes water and minerals to move upwards up to the leaves and helps in photosynthesis.
