Define universal gate. how is it different from the basic gate.

Universal gates are which can be used alone to represent any logic function. For example several NAND gates can be arranged in different configurations to represent any kind of logic. Same is the case with NOR gate. So they are called Universal gates. This can be done with OR gate or any other basic gates.
