★valance: it is a combining capacity if an atom .

#silicon (Si) = atomic no. – 15
shell K L M N
2 8 5 -
so valance = 8-5 = 3
#oxygen (O) = Atomic no. – 8
shell K L M N
2 6
so valence = 8-6= 2
