Water of crystallisation :

The fixed number of water molecules chemically attached to each formula unit of a salt in its crystalline form is called water of crystallisation.

The salts which contain water of crystallisation are called hydrated salts.

Examples are : CuSO4.5H2O , CaSO4.2H2O
