Define weight. In which directions does it acts . Is it same every where?

Weight is the force with which a body of mass m is attracted to the center of earth.

We have read that

weight = force = Mass x Acceleration = m x a

here a is the acceleration due to gravity

As the value of a is different on different planets, the weight will also be different. Hence, weight is a variable.
