Medieval India refers to a long period of the history of the Indian subcontinent between the "ancient period" and "modern period". It encompasses the 6th to the 18th centuries A.D.

The word "Medivial period" came from a Greek word "Medium aveum" which means middle age.It is not necessary that Medivial period start in all parts of the world at a same time.In India it starts from eight to eighteenth century while in Europe it starts from sixth to sixteenth century.
