1.) On the basis of source of raw materials there are two types of industries.
- Agro - based industries :- Industries of cotton , jute, silk , sugar , tea , coffee etc come under this category.
- Mineral - based industries :- Industries of aluminium, cement, iron , steel , petrochemicals etc come under this category.

2.) To make paper from the wood
- First obtain the raw wood which is made up of fibres called cellulose.
- Turn the wood into pulp.
- By using a natural glue ,struck all the cellulose fibres together. The glue is known as Lignin.
- After some days, remove the glue & separate and reorganize the cellulose fibres together.
- The most common method used for making paper is by chemical pulping.

3.) Manufacturing activity
- In this activity manufacturing, testing, packaging, storing and many more activities are done for making new items from the raw materials.
★ Secondary activity
- In this activity people make more valuable and useful goods from the products obtained from primary activites. Goods are made from raw materials that are found in the nature.
- Examples are :- Making of cloth from cotton , silk etc or making of sugar from sugarcane etc.
