Answer:

Work is the outcome of the force and displacement caused by the body. Force and displacement are vector quantities (they have both magnitude and direction) and the dot product of two vector quantites always gives a scalar quantity. So work has only magnitude but not direction. Therefore, work is a scaler quantity.

AnsweR :-

Work:

❥ It is the outcome of force & displacement  caused by body.

❥ Work is the product of the component of the force in the direction of the displacement and the magnitude of this displacement.

         W = (F cos θ) d = F. d

Where,

=>W is the work done by the force.

=>F is the force

=> d is the displacement caused by the force

=> θ is the angle between the force vector and the displacement vector.

❥ Unit of work is joule(J).

What is a scalar quantity?

A quantity which has only magnitude but no direction.

Is a work a scalar or vector?

Dot product of two vector quantities is a scalar quantity.

Here,force & displacement are vectors.As work is a product of it,it is a scalar quantity.

Therefore,work is a scalar quantity.
