Collenchyma cells contain protoplasm and are living without intercellular spaces. The cell wall is thickened at the corners due to the deposition of cellulose, hemicellulose or pectin can be oval, spherical or polygonal in shape. They provide tensile strength and flexibility which helps the plant to bend.
