A separating funnel looks like this. It is used to separate two immiscible liquids (liquids that don't mix with each other). How to use the separating funnel:
Pour the liquids into the funnel. One liquid stays at the bottom while the other stays at the top.
Twist the blue coloured tap at the side of the funnel.
The liquid at the bottom starts dripping down. Collect the liquids with the help of a beaker.
As soon as the first liquid drips down completely, twist back the tap.
Hence the two liquids are separated.
