Unified modelling language.
UML is new with Object oriented programming design techniques in Software Engineering and invented by three engineers.
This is a general purpose visual language to specify the design of a software package/application. It specifies interactions of the system with its environment including other systems, administrators and users. It is popular as it is precise, easy to follow and error free communication among the people involved in the software design, testing, coding and maintenance. All the customer requirements (functional specifications) are described using UML.
This language is used to indicate the flow of execution or occurrence of events starting from the initial stage of a customer interaction with the software till the completion of the service or user input.
UML serves as a model for the designers of the software to design that as complete threads of execution of user inputs.
