Desertification is a type of land degradation in which a relatively dry land region becomes increasingly arid, typically losing its bodies of water as well as vegetation and wildlife. It is caused by a variety of factors, such as climate change and human activities.
Deforestation, clearance or clearing is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use. This is how deforestation leads to desertification

hii friend here is your answer.....
deforestation is a major cause which leads to the change in soil properties. physical properties of the soil get affected by plantation and vegetation. trees prevent soil erosion. fewer trees result in more soil erosion. removal of top layer of soil exposes the lower hard Rocky layers. this soil has less humus and is less fertile. gradually the fertile land gets converted into desert.........
