Trees's roots holds the soil together.Once they are lost, soil becomes loose. After that, if then the soil becomes loose, the top layer of the soil might get washed away or blown with the wind. This top layer contains essential humus, the soil will become infertile, and no plants will grow. Hence, leads to desertification.
