Kh = Kw / Ka
= 10^-14 / (1.4 × 10^-9)
= 7.14 × 10^-6

Degree of hydrolysis = sqrt(Kh / c)
= sqrt((7.14 × 10^-6) / (0.01))
= 0.267

∴ Degree of hydrolysis of given solution is 0.267

Given:

Ka = 1.4 × 10-9

To Find:

degree of hydrolysis of N/100 solution of KCN.

Solution:

K_{h} = \frac{K_{w} }{K_{a} }

     = \frac{10^{-4} }{1.4*10^{-3} }

     = 7.4 *10^{-6}

h = \sqrt{\frac{7.14*10^{-6} }{0.01} }

  = 0.267

Therefore, degree of hydrolysis of given solution is 0.267.
