It is where the Mughals and the Ottoman rulers erected many architectural specimens, such as the Jama Masjid (India's largest mosque) and the Red Fort. There are currently three World Heritage Sites in Delhi - Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb. Other monuments include India Gate, Jantar Mantar (18th century astronomical observatory), Old Fort (16th century fort). Birla Mandir, Akshardham Temple and Kamal Mandir are excellent examples of modern architecture.
